Aesthetic features are among the deciding factors here in the Indian automotive market. And in those aesthetic features, chrome and gloss black are the accents that we Indians are drawn to. Next comes the colour. It’s debatable that almost all the cars that offer a shade of black look good. But today, we’ve compiled a list of 10 cars that look exceptionally mind-boggling in black. As looks are subjective, different people might have varied opinions, this is ours.
Kia Seltos X-Line
If you have been following the blog page, you might have an idea that Kia Seltos is the vehicle that wrote the success story of Kia here in India. The vehicle became an instant hit after its launch. Since 2019, there hasn’t been a drastic change in the vehicle, but if it ain’t broke why fix it. Besides, what the company has done is introduce various limited edition variants throughout its life.
In this limited edition the company offered multiple colour options at different time periods. For instance, recently Kia introduced a matt grey paint from the factory. No, doubt with some contrast red coloured accents, Seltos in matt black must look classy. Kia, psst… you listening?
Tata Safari Dark Edition
Next up, is the vehicle that Tata thought the new Safari would look good in an all-black paint scheme. Oh boy, it surely does, looks soothing to the eye with all the blacks and chrome delete from the factory.
From the grille to alloy wheels, and even the door handles are black. Harrier with its smart aesthetics in black does look like a batmobile. Well, gloss black is already here, do you think Tata should also launch a matt theme for the black? Let us know in the comments section, how will it look?
The German automotive giant Volkswagen is known to design some really elegant vehicles that age really well. Indeed they make really timeless designs, for instance, the recently discontinued Polo, which had undergone minimal to no changes in the body structure since the day it was launched.
Volkswagen Taigun also follows in the same footsteps. With the elegant design, the company knows the exact amount of chrome that should be used in the car. Why did we say this? Viewing the Taigun in black with the subtle use of chrome will turn a lot of heads.
2020 Hyundai Verna / Image for representation only
One of the oldest sedans on the list is the Hyundai Verna. And one of the reasons it sells in big numbers is its aesthetics. With the new update in 2020, the Korean carmaker has given the sedan a huge front grille and faux diffuser like projections. The unique stuff likes in the front grille and other shiny bits, for which they are not chrome (except the door handles), but gunmetal shade.
And in black, that contrast looks heavenly. That was for the conventional Verna. The Verna turbo comes with an all-black gloss grille, blacked wing mirrors and shark fin antenna. All these when opted with the black colour of the vehicle is similar to that of the dark edition.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

As automobile engineers back in college, we used to talk a lot about cars, their mechanics and aesthetics. And one vehicle that would definitely be a part of the conversation because of its streamlined and proportionate aesthetics was the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Now with the update in 2018, Ciaz became even better. The chrome grille has been replaced with a more subtle black with a hint of chrome. With that and the long vehicle structure, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz does look like a mean vehicle that is ready to take the race track immediately.
Skoda Kushaq / Image for representation only
The next vehicle we think will look classy in all-black attire is the Skoda Kushaq. Kushaq is the first vehicle from Skoda under the India 2.0 scheme. This is where the carmaker is manufacturing vehicles in India for India. The complete package that Kushaq offers is a lot hard to resist when compares to its rivals.
Well, another thing that works in favour of the SUV is its aesthetics, that too in the elegant shade of black. Skoda Kushaq comes with the right amount of chrome on the outside, that compliments dark colours, including black.
Toyota Fortuner / Black cars in India
The Japanese carmaker Toyota is known for its reliability and Fortuner is the vehicle in India’s portfolio that is true to its “Toyota” DNA. No wonder it has an outstanding resale value. Besides that, another reason Toyota is selling big in the Indian market is its aesthetics.
It certainly has a serious road presence, especially in the shade of black. In December 2020, Toyota launched that facelifted Fortuner that came with subtle but elegant cosmetic updates. Thes updates were more prominent with the Legender variant which is essentially the loaded Fortuner with all the bells and whistles.
Volkswagen Virtus / Black cars in India
The next vehicle from the German carmaker Volkswagen is the recently launched Virtus. The sedan is another sedan from the Skoda Volkwagen group to come under the India 2.0 scheme. That said, the first impressions of the VW Virtus are indeed super positive, time is the variable that’ll announce the final verdict of the vehicle.
But what we can comment on are the aesthetics. At the time of lunch, Virtus was unveiled in a shade of cherry red. Along with that colours, we guess it is the shade of black in we think this sedan would look appealing.
Nissan Magnite / Black cars in India
In India, jo dikhata hai vo bikta hai. Following the same phenomenon, Nissan launched the Nissan Magnite in the first quarter of 2021. The launch of the Nissan magnite stabilized the sales of this Japanese carmaker in India.
Along with aesthetics Magnite also gets a whole lot of features to keep the occupants entertained. Coming back to the aesthetics, we find Nissan Magnite exceptionally pleasing in all black colour.
MG Astor Design / Black cars in India
The following vehicle is a compact SUV from a Chinese carmaker that was recently launched. The design is usually not what the cars from MG are known for. For instance, Hector and the Gloser do look a little overdone. But that is not the case with MG Astor. The IC version of the ZS EV does look handsome.
Back when the Astor was launched in 2021, it was not exactly the IC version but rather a facelift. Well, this smart vehicle looks even better in the black shade that is complemented by the red brake calipers.
These were the 10 cars on sale in India that we think will look stunning in the shade of black. What are the other vehicles you think should be added to this list? Let us know in the comment section below.
